Kristina Powers

Dr. Kristina Powers joined WSCUC in 2016 as a Research Fellow on Student Achievement working directly with staff and member institutions to help develop the capacity to produce reliable data required by the Graduation Rate Dashboard and further the use of the dashboard. In addition to her Research Fellowship (a part-time role), Kristina serves as Associate Vice President of Institutional Research Services at Bridgepoint Education, the parent company of Ashford University (San Diego), the 2016 President of the California Association for Institutional Research (CAIR), and an IPEDS national trainer. Previous to working at Bridgepoint, Kristina was Assistant to the President for Strategic Research & Analysis at Valdosta State University (Georgia) where she served as the head of institutional research and ALO. Other higher education roles have included, lead author for the Statements of Aspirational Practice for Institutional Research with the Association for Institutional Research (AIR), teaching and developing institutional research and higher education administration courses at three institutions, conducting policy education research at the Florida Legislature, consulting services at MGT of America, and an admissions advisor at the State University of New York, College at Brockport.

She is the co-editor of Organization and Administration in Higher Education (2013 and forthcoming in 2017) published by Routledge and publishes in higher education journals as well as presents at the WSCUC ARC, CAIR, and AIR. Kristina holds a Ph.D. in Educational Policy and Leadership Studies with a concentration in Higher Education Policy and a Master’s in Higher Education Administration from Florida State University, and a Bachelor’s from the State University of New York, College at Brockport.
