Janna Bersi

Janna Bersi, Professor of Graduate Education in the College of Education, California State University, Dominguez Hills (CSUDH) was elected to the commission in 2014. Dr. Bersi’s professional record encompasses more than 20 years of senior leadership experience in public and private higher education and spans a broad spectrum of responsibilities with a concentration of strengths in financial and budget management, strategic planning, educational effectiveness and accreditation, endowment development, governing board relations, academic affairs, human resources, as well as real estate and risk management. From 2009 to January 2016 she served as Associate Vice President, Academic Resources Management and Planning at CSUDH. Prior to that she was Vice President of Finance and Chief Financial Officer of Chapman University. She is the former Associate Executive Director and Chief Financial Officer of the CSU Long Beach Foundation and the founding Director of the American Institute of Philanthropic Studies. Dr. Bersi is a member of the Board of Directors of the Western Association of College and University Business Officers (WACUBO) where she serves as Chair of the Marketing and Communications Committee. She is also a member of the CSUDH Philanthropic Foundation Board of Directors. Dr. Bersi earned her doctoral degree in Organizational Leadership from Pepperdine University and holds an MBA and BS in Finance from the California State University, Long Beach. She is a Certified Specialist in Planned Giving and a graduate of the WASC Senior College and University Commission Assessment Leadership Academy.
