Latest Updates on Argosy University

WSCUC has been monitoring the status of Argosy University. As of March 6, 2019 WSCUC is aware of the possible imminent closure of the institution.

While the next steps are uncertain, our top priority is to support students through this transition by sharing resources and information related to transcripts and student records, transfer credits, federal financial aid, and other matters. WSCUC will update our website with resources and information.

Here are the latest updates:

  • We hope the receiver/institution will post information on schools interested in participating in transfer or teach-out arrangements for students to complete or continue their programs.
    • We understand that some Argosy locations may host “transfer fairs” this week with institutions offering programs in the fields offered by Argosy. Students should check with their own campus or online program.
    • We will add the link to any transfer and teach out information here when it is operational. As soon as WSCUC knows how institutions can arrange to be included on that list, we will post that information as well.
  • Argosy has indicated that it plans to arrange for student transcripts and records to be made available to students through a third-party service.
  • Students with questions about financial aid, including loans and closed school discharges, should contact Federal Student Aid in the U.S. Department of Education. Additional information for students is available on the U.S. Department of Education’s website here.

Again, WSCUC understands students have many questions about how this evolving situation will affect their education. WSCUC will provide additional information or links for students as it becomes available.

Given serious concerns related to its financial situation, on January 19, 2019, WSCUC ordered Argosy University to Show Cause why its accreditation should not be withdrawn.

A Show Cause proceeding was held on February 21, 2019 and another was scheduled for March 15, 2019. Argosy University remains accredited by WSCUC while under the Show Cause Order.

On February 27, 2019, the U.S. Department of Education Office of Federal Student Aid terminated Argosy’s participation in student financial aid (Title IV) programs effective immediately. Read the Department’s announcement.
