Dr. Kristina Powers joined WSCUC in 2016 as a Research Fellow on Student Achievement working directly with staff and member institutions to help develop the capacity to produce reliable data required by the Graduation Rate Dashboard and further the use of the dashboard. In addition to her Research Fellowship (a part-time role), Kristina is President of K Powers Consulting Inc., a national IPEDS trainer, and the Director of Institutional Effectiveness at Menlo College. Dr. Powers has served as the head of institutional research and effectiveness at four institutions and ALO at two of those universities. Other higher education roles have included, President of the California Association for Institutional Research (CAIR) in 2016, lead author for the Statements of Aspirational Practice for Institutional Research with the Association for Institutional Research (AIR), teaching and developing institutional research, higher education, and research courses at four institutions, conducting policy education research at the Florida Legislature, consulting services at MGT of America, and an admissions advisor at the State University of New York, College at Brockport.
She is the editor of Data Strategy in Colleges and Universities (forthcoming 2019), co-editor of Cultivating a Data Culture in Higher Education (2018) and Organization and Administration in Higher Education (2013 and 2017) published by Routledge and publishes in higher education journals as well as presents at the WSCUC ARC, CAIR, and AIR. Kristina holds a Ph.D. in Educational Policy and Leadership Studies with a concentration in Higher Education Policy and a Master’s in Higher Education Administration from Florida State University, and a Bachelor’s from the State University of New York, College at Brockport.
