Reapplication after Denial of Candidacy or Initial Accreditation Policy

A revised version of the Reapplication after Denial of Candidacy or Initial Accreditation Policy has been approved by the Commission for circulation to the region for comment. This policy will be considered by the Commission during its February 2019 Meeting.

The policy has been revised to modify language for clarity and accuracy and ensure the policy is in alignment with the current Seeking Accreditation practice to permit multiple reviews and visits rather than the previous two-step process. In addition, the policy now makes clear that the Commission may act to deny Candidacy or Initial Accreditation, rather than continue with additional Seeking Accreditation Visits, in those cases in which an institution will not meet the required level of compliance with the standards within a five-year period.

Teach-Out Plans and Agreements Policy and Teach-Out Plans and Agreements Guide

The Commission approved a revised Teach-Out Plans and Agreements Policy and Teach-Out Plans and Agreements Guide for circulation to the region for comment. The policy was revised to provide more explicit information about preparing teach-out plans for approval by WSCUC, to clarify language, and to incorporate US Department of Education requirements. In addition, staff has prepared a companion teach-out guide to provide institutions with detailed guidance and specific templates for a teach-out.

Sharing Information with other Agencies and Regard for their Decisions Policy

The Commission approved a revised Sharing Information with other Agencies and Regard for their Decisions Policy for circulation to the region for comment. Two standalone policies (Regard for Decisions of Other Agencies Policy and the Sharing of Accreditation Information with Other Agencies Policy)were combined since both concern accreditation communications with other agencies including other accrediting bodies, state licensing agencies, and the government agencies. The Sharing of Accreditation Information with Other Agencies Policy is a two sentence policy and the Regard for Decisions of Other Agencies Policy is a frequently accessed policy from the WSCUC web site that has not been revised since it was originally created.
