Conflict of Interest Policy

A revised version of the Conflict of Interest Policy, has been approved by the Commission for circulation to the region for comment. This policy will be considered by the Commission during its June 2018 Meeting.

WSCUC takes its Conflict of Interest policy very seriously. The policy has been updated with respect to disclosing potential conflicts, appearance of conflicts, and recusal in the context of work by WSCUC Commissioners, committee members, reviewers, staff, and consultants. It has also been streamlined and revised for greater internal consistency and coherence. The policy was revised in alignment with a newly combined Conduct, Confidentiality, and Conflict of Interest form. WSCUC had two versions of conduct, confidentiality, and conflict of interest forms and these have been combined into one form for all Commission-associated parties (Commissioners, appointed committee members, team members, staff, consultants, and other related individuals).

Accreditation Liaison Officer Policy

The Commission approved a revised version of the Accreditation Liaison Officer Policy for circulation to the region for comment. This policy will be considered by the Commission during its June 2018 Meeting.

Revisions included updated terminology, description of the appointment of an ALO, role definition and duty clarification, specification of communication channels, and clarification of the specific role of the chief executive officer as official institution representative and contact.

Dual Degrees Policy

A revised version of the Dual Degrees Policy, has been approved by the Commission for circulation to the region for comment. This policy will be considered by the Commission during its June 2018 Meeting.

The policy has been revised to align it with the June 2017 revised Substantive Change policy and manual. Specifically, this policy now makes clear that institutions seeking new dual degrees are required to undergo review by the Substantive Change Committee, in accordance with Substantive Change policy. The revised policy also now addresses dual enrollments with high schools within the region.

 

Joint Degrees Policy

The Commission also approved a revised Joint Degrees Policy for circulation to the region for comment. It was revised for similar reasons to the revisions of the Dual Degrees Policy to align it with the June 2017 revised Substantive Change policy and manual and ensure clarity that new joint degrees require Substantive Change Committee review.
