• DEADLINE EXTENDED: Policy Changes Seeking Public Comments

WSCUC has extended the deadline to submit public comments for three proposed policy changes. Click the links below for more information about each policy. Comments must be emailed to policies [at] wscuc.org by May 20, 2019.

  • Institutional Appeals Policy: A revised version of the Institutional Appeals Policy has been approved by the Commission for circulation to the region for comment. This policy will be considered by the Commission during its June 2019 Meeting.The Institutional Appeals Policy has been revised to indicate that notice of adverse actions will be made available to the public, to reduce the number of members of the appeals panel from five to three, and to clarify the order of activities and time frames between actions related to appealable actions. 

     

  • Public Disclosure of Accreditation Documents and Commission Actions PolicyA revised version of the Public Disclosure of Accreditation Documents and Commission Actions Policy has been approved by the Commission for circulation to the region for comment. This policy will be considered by the Commission during its June 2019 Meeting.The language in the Public Disclosure of Accreditation Documents has been revised to post adverse appealable actions within 24 hours of notification of the institution, which will take place within 30 days of the decision.

     

  • Transfer of Credit PolicyA revised version of the Transfer of Credit Policy, has been approved by the Commission for circulation to the region for comment. This policy will be considered by the Commission during its June 2019 Meeting.Each institution is responsible for determining its own policies and practices with regard to the transfer and award of credit. The policy has been revised to better summarize key issues, to align the policy with WSCUC practice, to update references to US Department of Education regulations and to a 2017 policy statement from the Council on Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA), the American Association of Collegiate Registrars and Admissions Officers (AACRAO), and the American Council on Education (ACE) on best practices in awarding transfer credit.
