• Call to Prioritize Democracy Learning in Higher Education

    September 28, 2021 - WSCUC

Along with dozens of higher education and student success organizations, WSCUC today joined in a call for a renewed commitment to engaging students in “equity-committed civic learning.”

The Shared Commitment pledge, organized by Civic Learning and Democracy Engagement (CLDE), seeks to make Democracy learning a top priority for postsecondary education. It recognizes that students want a quality education that enables them to develop solutions for positive change in their communities and acknowledges that civic education, with its focus on teamwork, communication, problem-solving, critical thinking, and engagement across differences, encompasses real-world skills that build both better democracies and creative economies.
