• Commission Retires Two Agency Seats, Opening Both to Member Institutions

    September 8, 2026 - WSCUC

WSCUC’s Commission has voted to retire two seats designated for representatives of the Accrediting Commission for Community and Junior Colleges (ACCJC) and the Accrediting Commission for Schools, Western Association of Schools and Colleges (ACS WASC). The change opens both seats to leaders from WSCUC member institutions.

WSCUC Commissioners play a central role in shaping the agency’s work, setting strategic priorities, establishing the Standards of Accreditation, and determining the accreditation status of member institutions. Nominations for the open seats, along with seats held by Commissioners whose terms end in 2027, will open in November. Members of the WSCUC community may nominate themselves or others for consideration. CEOs of WSCUC-accredited institutions will vote to elect new Commissioners from the final slate of candidates.

Additional information about the nomination process will be shared when nominations open. WSCUC thanks the colleagues who served in the ACCJC and ACS WASC seats and continues to value its longstanding relationship with each agency.
