• New Book Shares Examples of Successful Assessment

Exemplars of Assessment in Higher Education: Diverse Approaches to Addressing Accreditation Standards foregrounds innovative and student-focused approaches to assessing student learning and leveraging institutional accreditation standards at institutions around the country.

A chapter by Dr. Dan Shapiro, Associate Vice President for Academic Planning and Institutional Effectiveness at WSCUC-accredited California State University Monterey Bay, describes approaches to engaging faculty and effective professional development for student-focused assessment processes connected to teaching and learning.

The chapter,Giving Life to Student Outcomes, shares how Dr. Shapiro and his colleagues at CSU Monterey Bay worked with accreditation standards and expectations, as well as WSCUC’s Educational Programs, to develop and give life to CSUMB’s set of institutional learning outcomes.
