WSCUC has finalized its comments on the Department of Education’s proposed Accreditation, Innovation, and Modernization (AIM) regulations.
WSCUC’s comments call for final regulations that are consistent with the Department’s statutory authority and can be clearly and consistently implemented. They also identify provisions where the proposed regulatory text and the accompanying preamble differ, or where the provisions require additional clarification. These include requirements related to academic freedom and intellectual diversity, governance, and research misconduct. In addition, the comments address the Department’s cost-benefit analysis.

The public comment period remains open through Monday, September 21. WSCUC encourages institutions to review the proposed regulations and consider submitting comments to the Department through regulations.gov.
