• New WSCUC Vice President Dr. Geoff Chase

Dr. Geoff Chase has been hired as Vice President effective January 2016. Dr. Chase will oversee a portfolio of institutions and serve as a staff liaison within the WSCUC region.

Dr. Chase was Dean of Undergraduate Studies at San Diego State University (SDSU). He served as Accreditation Liaison Officer at SDSU for over 10 years and as team chair, assistant chair, and team member for multiple WSCUC review teams.

Dr. Chase has played key leadership roles since 2002. He was instrumental in establishing SDSU’s Weber Honors College and the University’s Center for Regional Sustainability (for which he served as Director) and oversaw programs aimed at increasing student completion and success including undergraduate research, assessment of student learning, and community-based service learning. Prior to his tenure at SDSU, Dr. Chase held a number of positions at Northern Arizona University, including Chair of the English Department, Dean of Liberal Studies and Assessment, and Associate Provost for Undergraduate Studies.

Dr. Chase was the co-editor of Sustainability on Campus: Stories and Strategies for Change (2004), and Sustainability in Higher Education: Stories and Strategies for Transformation (2013), both of which were published by MIT Press.  He was a founding board member of the Association for the Advancement of Sustainability in Higher Education (AASHE) and served as board chair for that organization from 2008 to 2011. Dr. Chase holds a Ph.D. in 20th Century American and British Literature from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
