• WSCUC Work Group to Review 2023 Standards

    May 20, 2025 - WSCUC

WSCUC is launching a review of our 2023 Standards of Accreditation and associated policies to ensure that we remain in compliance with federal law, following the presidential administration’s Executive Order on accreditation.

The Standards review presents an opportunity to strengthen WSCUC’s longstanding emphasis on student outcomes and success and support continued federal financial aid access for students served by WSCUC-accredited institutions of higher education.

As always, our work will be grounded in our focus on institutional excellence, student-centered outcomes, and success for every student. A work group comprised of Commissioners representing the varied missions of WSCUC-accredited institutions will lead this important work.

During the review process, WSCUC will “stay” requirements in the Standards that reference diversity, equity and inclusion, which means we will temporarily pause these provisions in the Standards. The Standards review process and stay of diversity, equity, and inclusion language in the Standards does not change WSCUC’s commitment to success for every student.

Your perspective during the Standards review process will be invaluable. Member institutions will have opportunities to provide input throughout the review, in accordance with WSCUC procedures and federal regulations. We encourage institutions to read WSCUC’s Q&A on the Standards review process and monitor our Standards review webpage for updates. Further information about feedback opportunities will be provided soon.
