• WSCUC CEO’s 2004 Essay “Vocation is not a Dirty Word” cited

One challenge in higher education has been the need to improve postgraduate employment outcomes, writes UT Austin history professor Steven Mintz in his October 28 Inside Higher Ed column “Perceptual Blindness.” He discusses how people can become so focused on serious issues that they miss other trends and challenges, and he cites a 2004 essay by WSCUC President Jamie Studley that “called for more thoughtful ways to introduce undergraduates to the world of work and weave career development across students’ educational journey,” saying the essay was prescient in identifying the employment outcomes challenge.
