• WSCUC Coffee with CEOs Events Offer Guidance, Connection

    March 7, 2024 - WSCUC

WSCUC’s latest Coffee with CEOs events offered valuable insights and community for institutional leaders navigating complex issues of free speech, student safety, and open discourse and inquiry.

A Conversation on Free Speech and Campus Dialogue, held December 7, brought together presidents and other leaders for an informal talk on laws that govern free speech on college campuses, guided by UC Berkeley Law Dean Erwin Chemerinsky. WSCUC invited President Jane Close Conoley, CSU Long Beach, to open the Q&A portion of the event.
Institutional leaders gathered on January 23 for Navigating Institutional Statements: A CEO Discussion. Facilitated by Dr. Devorah Lieberman, President Emerita, University of La Verne, this event connected presidents in small groups to discuss the principles that guide fellow leaders when deciding to issue or refrain from issuing institutional statements.

WSCUC’s Coffee with CEOs events convene institutional leaders for confidential dialogues on pressing topics in higher education. The virtual series was launched in the early days of the pandemic in 2020 and builds on the success of WSCUC’s CEO and Trustee Workshop series.

Institutional presidents are invited to gather for the CEO Forum at WSCUC’s annual accreditation resource conference. ARC2024 – The Big Picture: Framing the Challenges, Focusing on the Future will take place in San Diego, California April 18 – 20.
