Governing Board Policy and Guide

A revision to the Independent Governing Board Policy, newly renamed the Governing Board Policy, is being circulated by the Commission to the region for public comment. This policy will be considered by the Commission during the November 2017 Meeting.

This policy regarding the appropriate role of governing boards is a shorter version than the original and now includes a separate, accompanying Governing Board Policy Implementation Guide. This Guide helps institutions understand expected practices associated with the revised policy. Revisions to the original policy included removing unnecessary material, aligning policy with practice, reorganizing and reformatting the content for ease in reading, and clarifying ambiguous language. The Commission welcomes comments on both the Policy and the Guide.

Equity and Inclusion Policy

A revision to the Diversity Policy, newly renamed the Equity and Inclusion Policy, is being circulated by the Commission to the region for public comment. The policy has been significantly changed and includes sections on the purpose of the policy, general principles, a set of questions that institutions should be prepared to address within the context of a comprehensive accreditation review, and a description of good practices for valuing diversity and fostering inclusion.
