A revision to the Diversity Policy, renamed the Equity and Inclusion Policy, was approved by the Commission during its November 2017 Meeting.

The policy was edited for brevity and clarity, using updated language. The draft was circulated to the region for comments before final approval by the Commission in November. Institutions are not expected to write specifically about this policy for reaffirmation, but if they have received a Commission recommendation related to diversity, or if institutions are seeking to become initially accredited, they may wish to address issues in the policy as they prepare materials for WSCUC review.

A revision to the Independent Governing Board Policy, renamed the Governing Board Policy, was approved by the Commission during its November 2017 Meeting.

This policy regarding the appropriate role of governing boards has been shortened and now includes a separate, accompanying Governing Board Policy Implementation Guide. Revisions to the original policy included a closer alignment of policy with practice, reorganizing and reformatting the content for ease in reading, and clarifying ambiguous language. Drafts of the Policy and Guide were circulated to the region for comments before final approval by the Commission in November. The Guide is intended to help institutions understand expected practices associated with the revised policy.
